It may be noted that proper Malayalam Unicode viewing support is available in Windows XP SP2 onwards and Linux …..

CONFIGURING WINDOWS AND BROWSER FOR VIEWING UNICODE MALAYALAM
1. Enabling Malayalam in Windows XP
STEPS FOR INSTALLING THE INDIC – MALAYALAM LANGUAGE PACK
Open control panel > Regional and Language Options, Language tab. Then select "install files for complex script..". It may require Windows XP installation CD.

2. Download and install additional fonts
You can download additional Malayalam Unicode fonts from the www.malayalam.kerala.gov.in website
3. Configuring Mozilla Firefox browser for Malayalam Unicode
a. Open the Firefox browser, select Tools > Options
b. Go to Content tab. Click on Advanced… button. Select Malayalam from ‘Font for:’
c. Set the installed Meera Unicode Malayalam font in Serif, Sans Serif and Monospace
4. Configure for Internet Explorer browser
a. Open Internet Explorer browser. Select Internet Options from Tool menu then click on Fonts button.
c. Choose Malayalam as the Language Script
Select any of the Malayalam Unicode fonts as your chosen font. This can be changed as you wish, later.
